| Rusland and District WI held their traditional Carols Evening |
Midwinter Quiz (for Parish Room funds), Satterthwaite |
| on 9th December in Satterthwaite Church and Parish Room. |
Parish Room - 7:30pm. |
| The programme began with a spectacular snow scene and |
|
| the Hawkshead Church Junior Choir singing 'In the Bleak |
Tuesday 20th January |
| Midwinter'. The assembled company joined in the singing of |

| old favourite carols, 'Dramatic Irony', a local song writing |

| group, performed two numbers of their own composition, and |

| three WI members gave seasonal readings. The WI Choir |

| Mrs D Mason of Derian House Childrens Hospice gave a |

| any money raised would go towards the construction of a |

| teenagers wing. Supper was served in the Parish Room. The |
|
| WI thank everyone who attended on a very wintry evening. |
|

|
| Since the event, the WI Choir have helped to sing carols at |
|
| the Eagle's Head, where a further collection was made |
|
| enabling a total of £437 to be given to Derian House. |
|
| |
|
| In January 2009, we meet once again in Satterthwaite Parish |
|
| Room on the 20th, to hear Jennifer Buxton talk on 'Cooking |
|
| Disasters'. At this point, another year starts to roll for the WI |
|
| and we will be making plans for the much anticipated |
| 'PUDDING CLUB', always a gastronomic highlight, on 28th |
| February. This event will be in aid of WI funds, as we have to |
| remain solvent ourselves while we continue to support good |
| causes. Tickets will be on sale in the New Year. |
